A Fragmented Love Story, Written by the Infinite Helix Architect

Brainfeeder has always been a home for electronic music’s strangest impulses, and Little Snake’s debut album for the imprint, A Fragmented Love Story, Written by the Infinite Helix Architect, fits the tradition perfectly. It’s a post-genre collage: eleven tracks that shunt between wonky bass, videogame melody, fractured percussion and near-tender ambience, held together by an emotional core that never lets the absurdity tip into indulgence.

The record opens with a blur rather than a statement—exterior to me is a 46-second wash of reversed vocals and detuned pads that dissolves into the neon-lit Fallen Angels. That track sets the template: huge, wobbling basslines under a lead that sounds like a synth caught mid-smile, drums that skitter and regroup instead of holding a steady line. hang in there.. stretches the mood further, gliding between lush pads and pockets of startling calm before the bass returns, heavier than before.

The middle of the record is where the maximalism runs freest. Decimation of Movement over Time piles glitched percussion onto a stuttering sub-bass groove, while FEVER DREAM lives up to its name with a barrage of cuts and vocal fragments that land exactly where you don’t expect them. Loophole is the centrepiece, an eight-minute sprawl that rewards patience—just as the chaos feels overwhelming, the arrangement opens up and the neon melodies float clear of it. The Machine offers a brief, percussive exhale, all cymbals and clatter.

The final stretch reaches for the record’s heart. In My Head pairs a halting beat with some of the album’s sweetest chords, while Raining Teeth is as visceral as its title suggests, all low-end violence and clipped, desperate voices. A 71-second palate cleanser, this interlude presents: Absurdism !!, skewers the project’s sense of humour before closer TO FIND LOVE IS TO SEEK THE END turns tender, its sampled vocals and slow-burning pads providing a genuinely moving resolution to all the chaos.

A Fragmented Love Story, Written by the Infinite Helix Architect is a debut album that’s exhausting in the best way—absurd and sincere, fractured and melodic, maximalist and occasionally delicate. It won’t be to every taste, and it demands attention, but for anyone willing to follow the helter-skelter path, the reward is one of the most distinctive records Brainfeeder has released in some time.
